The highest driveable pass in the San Juans!
Description: Crossing Canyon Creek, and driving through the lower part of the Camp Bird mine, we begin our trek up Imogene Basin past the site of the Yellow Rose mine and waterfall. Then, our ascent climbs dramatically above tree-line and the upper Camp Bird. With a summit of over 13,100 feet, the views are tremendous and include not only Telluride, but the surrounding mountain peaks as well. The return trip includes narrative regarding the history of Ft. Peabody and views of Ptarmigan lake. Also a wonderful trip for wildflowers and wildlife!
Half Day: $60.00 per adult and $35.00 per child 4-12.
Contributing photographers. Kathryn R. Burke, James Burke, Tom Fitch, Don Porter, Priscilla Sherman, Carolyn Wilcox, Roger Young.
